Faizullah - the small boy in the middle - is dehydrated after 20 days of diarrhea and is about to receive Oral Rehydration Salts. His mother is talking to the Abadan, a Community Health Worker, who is explaining about the importance of clean water and methods for achieving it. This photo is taken during a three-day induction training for Community Health Workers in Afghan Tepa Village in Jawzjan province in Northern Afghanistan. The health workers are volunteers trained by Save the Children and one male and one female worker will be responsible for 150 families in the village. The villagers themselves selected the volunteers.
